Subsystems incorporate hardware RAID controllers with hot swappable disk drives, allowing RAID functionality to be added to systems, offering hot swap drives, redundancy and resilience. Transparent to the host operating system and requiring no drivers, they do not consume CPU cycles or memory bandwidth. Typical applications include small servers, industrial computing hardware and DVR / DAR for CCTV.

Acard's ARS-3000 RAIDbox Series is a range of 1U 4-bay storage devices suitable for DVR / DAR / Media Streaming system storage, or any other devices with a SCSI host bus. The Ultra SCSI LVD host interface sees the four internal disks with a single SCSI address, which enables up to 15 RAIDbox devices to be daisy-chained on a single SCSI bus. With currently available disk sizes this offers a maximum capacity of some 90TB.
